Daily doses of love and connection among the rescued horses, dogs, cats and other soulful beings at Waggin Tails Farm in Washington County NY
This blog is about a little girl who collected fuzzy caterpillars and brought them home in her pockets, explored high adventures by the creek with her dog, Gretchen. With her compassionate parents, she raised ducklings, squirrels, and robins when they fell from their nests, or lost their way.
She harbored orphaned kittens in her bedroom closet, and dragged every dog that wandered of it’s property home and begged her parents to keep it.
She grew through her teenage years as a horse lover, an equestrian, propelled into adulthood as a professional horsewoman. Her love for animals kept close to her heart, she helped the lost, abandoned, neglected at every opportunity laid before her.
And here I am now, 2017
After a 28 year career in the thoroughbred racing industry, life has come full circle, minus the caterpillars! My humble farm is full of life, the dogs, cats, donkeys, goats, ponies, chickens, turkeys, guinea hens, bunnies, and the thoroughbreds.
Our goal is always love 💗, and harmony.
Through, patience, persistence, love, a safe place to sleep and regular meals, we help these lost, forgotten, unwanted, and “no longer useful” souls heal, prosper, and shine.
It’s not an easy life, but I am guided by something greater than myself. It’s not so much as a decision, as it is a magnet that my soul is drawn to.
This journey has many ups and downs, we laugh, we love, we celebrate, we grieve, we cry. Dogs, cats, and former thoroughbred racehorses, as well as other critters have been rescued, and found their safe haven, a second chance, a new home through this farm.
Everyone can do something to help, through advocacy, networking, donations, volunteering, fostering, adopting. Giving a voice to the voiceless.
One of my very favorite quotes is from Dr Martin Luther King Jr:
“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”
I hope you will enjoy our “daily doses of love and connection” as we share the chaos, laughter and love with you, from our hearts to your’s…..put your heart in your hand, and your hand on the one you love.
